Religion v. Free Speech by OnePieceOfSHiTaKE Religion v. Free Speech by OnePieceOfSHiTaKE
This was one of my prototypes for the school project i mentioned in my previous deviation. It's on the whole religion trying to stop the freedom of speech thing. i still have to refine it, but this is what i've got so far.

Ummmmmmmm...

Don't you mean Nazism vs abrahamic religion vs free speech. Many religions respect other religions, just not the abrahamic ones

I'm amazed you can do this in school....
You would get suspended and maybe even expelled where I used to goto school for something like this.

Albert Einstein:
"Your question [about God] is the most difficult in the world. It is not a question I can answer simply with yes or no. I am not an Atheist."

"science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind."

""Unquestionably! No one can read the Gospels without feeling the actual presence of Jesus. His personality pulsates in every word. No myth is filled with such life."

"Only the Church stood squarely across the path of Hitler's campaign for suppressing truth. I never had any special interest in the Church before, but now I feel a great affection and admiration because the Church alone has had the courage and persistence to stand for intellectual truth and moral freedom. I am forced thus to confess that what I once despised I now praise unreservedly."

"a person who is religiously enlightened appears to me to be one who has, to the best of his ability, liberated himself from the fetters of his selfish desires and is preoccupied with thoughts, feelings and aspirations to which he clings because of their super-personal value. It seems to me that what is important is the force of this superpersonal content ... regardless of whether any attempt is made to unite this content with a Divine Being, for otherwise it would not be possible to count Buddha and Spinoza as religious personalities. Accordingly a religious person is devout in the sense that he has no doubt of the significance of those super-personal objects and goals which neither require nor are capable of rational foundation ... In this sense religion is the age-old endeavor of mankind to become clearly and completely conscious of these values and goals and constantly to strengthen and extend their effect. If one conceives of religion and science according to these definitions then a conflict between them appears impossible. For science can only ascertain what is, but not what should be"

I suppose I agree. Even if religions encourage peace, they still start wars.

If I may say, while it's a matter of opinion, it's fanaticism of religion that starts wars, not the religions themselves.

Hmm. Last time I checked, it was groups of atheist scientists who were censoring discussion of any scientific idea that contradicted Darwin's idea of natural selection.

On the other hand, the four staunchest advocates for free speech that I've ever known are two Jews, a Catholic priest, and a Baptist minister.

Your pic is dangerous.

You just compare catholics religion with
Nazism; This go much further than then fact
that the new pope had been in

and that is a non believing who say that...

People always takes religion for the cause of wars,
misery.

But human doesn't need religion to make war and violence. Each time there is a difference between
people it can create tenions because human, in one
way, protects his territory.

Look:
Racism => Violence because people are not tolerant
Xenophobia => same
Money => aahh money..; this is sure
etc...

Religion in past was link to bad things that's right
but this is always humans who act.

In your pic we can understand that you think religion is
in part responsible of what happen...

Donc forgot Hitler arrived at power by vote because a whole people, German, were humbled and plunged into a grave crisis; Versailles's treaty contained yet the begining of the second world war. (and it's French who says that...);

Religion can make people believe some pretty stupid things.
Such as the idea the everything was created by some omnipotent being who made a woman made out a rib that instilled evil into all of us by accepting fruit from a talking snake in a tree and that the evil from that action has to be extinguished by obeying some Jewish zombie.
I thought about that when I was being "taught about religion", Thinking makes you realize things, such as "how the hell did anybody believe this in the first place?"

everyone was just gullible back in the day i guess. that and people just naturally fear death, so they needed something to not be afraid of, hence the happy eternity after death; if you're not evil, that is. i mean if people need that to feel comfort, then i'm fine with that, as long as they dont impose on my own beliefs.

Alright, time for some (I hope) objective review

This is highly provocative material, can be good if you develop good argument, can be bad if you don't support it well.

So far, the thesis, or the main idea of the picture, is very well displayed and it is very eyecatching. Some problem however, there is lacks of depicted ideas that support your idea in the piece. You might want to add some more picture about how recent important figure being abolished of their free speech because they belong to some specific religion (remember, every religion is different) . don't use historical figure, because religious value change over time.
Research more on the subject cos you pick really interesting idea. Good luck for the project, whatever your viewpoint is.

any religion that tries to tell you what to eat and drink, what to wear and who to have sex with is pure fascism.
but you focused only on one religion while there is at least another one that's even worse - at least nowadays.
afraid of death threats?

just jokin.

oh if you mean scientology, yeah i know about them. they scare me yes. and they were my first targets for this project, but the imagery i came up with was really not getting the point across. since i wanted to show religion in general, but instead what i got was just catholicism. i just need to work on it a bit more.
